TIM’S TEACHERS
Test Preparation
Data-driven plans, targeted lessons, and timed practice—so students walk into test day confident, prepared, and ready to perform.
Our Test-Prep Process
Every student starts with a full-length practice test, so we know exactly where they stand before a single lesson begins. From there, every step is deliberate — targeted instruction, timed practice, and regular checkpoints to keep progress on track.
Tests We Prepare For
We prepare students for college admissions exams, private school entrance tests, and gifted & talented assessments — each with a customized plan built around that exam's specific format, timing, and scoring.
SAT
College admissions exam assessing Reading & Writing and Math with adaptive modules and emphasis on reasoning.
ACT
College admissions test with English, Math, Reading, and Science sections; optional Writing at some schools.
SSAT
Independent school admission exam covering Quantitative, Reading, Verbal (synonyms/analogies), and Writing Sample.
ISEE
Independent School Entrance Exam with Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative, Reading, Math Achievement, and Essay.
HSPT
High School Placement Test used by many Catholic schools; tests Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Math, and Language.
OLSAT
Otis-Lennon School Ability Test for reasoning abilities (verbal and nonverbal), often for gifted/talented placement.
NNAT
Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test focused on nonverbal reasoning; widely used for gifted identification.
Test prep typically begins a few months before the exam — but that timeline only works if no significant content gaps exist. Taking a practice test 6 months or more before the actual exam gives us the flexibility to address foundational knowledge first and build the most effective study schedule possible. The earlier we assess, the better the plan.
School Benchmark & Screening Support
Many schools use yearly benchmark or screening tests such as STAR Reading/Math, CPT-5, COGAT, and the CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress). Our Enrichment curriculum provides the day-to-day skill building needed to raise these scores: targeted reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and math standards practice.
Frequent, adaptive benchmarks — improve growth percentiles through systematic reading and standards-based math practice.
Comprehensive school testing: we shore up foundational skills and test-taking strategies aligned to the domains assessed.
Cognitive abilities screening. We build verbal/nonverbal reasoning and teach item patterns without over-memorization.
California's ELA & Math assessments. Our Enrichment pathways target the exact reading and standards skills CAASPP measures.
Ready to Get Started?
