Two Weeks.
Every Major Essay Type.
Each two-week Writing Bootcamp is a structured, intensive experience built around the full spectrum of academic writing. Students cover all six major essay types — from narrative to analytical — and master the frameworks that make writing work at every level.
Beyond the essay types themselves, students learn the CER framework (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) for building airtight academic arguments, and explore Aristotle's rhetorical appeals — Ethos, Pathos, and Logos — to understand how persuasion operates across every kind of writing.
Sessions run in small groups or privately, with new cohorts starting every two weeks throughout the summer.
The Full Writing Curriculum
Six Essay Types
Storytelling with purpose — structure, voice, pacing, and vivid detail to create a compelling personal account.
Using sensory language and precise word choice to paint a clear, immersive picture for the reader.
Clear, organized explanation of a topic — no opinion, just structured information presented logically.
Building a compelling case through opinion, evidence, and emotional appeal to move the reader to a position.
Evidence-based argumentation with counterargument acknowledgment and formal academic structure.
Breaking down a text, idea, or topic to evaluate its components — how it works, why it works, and what it means.
Foundational Framework
Ethos, Pathos,
and Logos
Aristotle's three rhetorical appeals give students a vocabulary for understanding how persuasion operates in every genre of writing.
Ethos builds credibility, Pathos connects emotionally, and Logos constructs logical proof — together they make writing that moves people.
